That’s the Time

That’s the Time

by Terry Wilson 2/22/2012

Chorus 1
That was the time when it was all true
When Romeo returned and Juliet was you
That was the time for shooting stars
For stolen kisses in the night
It was the time for moon lit walks
and gentle touches
Those were the times I will never forget
Those were the times I will never forget

Verse 1
It is kept up in the top of the closet
Captured memories of special moments
tucked away but never forgotten
A box of old pictures thought of often

Chorus 2
That was the the time when it was all true
When Romeo returned and Juliet was you
That was the time we carved out a heart
Watching the sun end the day
It was the time for soft little winks
from the heart
Those were the times I will never forget
Those were the times I will never forget

Verse 2
These pictures spread across the floor
Every picture carries a thousand words
All of the words with untold meaning
Rushing back in with all of the feelings

Chorus 1
Chorus 2

The Politest Pirate

The foamy salty sea has an attraction
For vagabonds and every sort of rogue
Whose only thought’s their selfish satisfaction
‘mongst pirates, bad manners are in vogue

But I’m here to tell the tale of the exception
About a man with manners through and through
He’d not resort to threats or vile deception
The politest pirate, Paddy McEldoo

(chorus)
He’d the fiercest crew the seas have ever seen,
And neatly piled doubloons down in the hold
He’d shout to quaking captains frightened green,
“If you’d be so good enough
Please give us all your gold”

His crew all thought him mad as a hatter
When he told them of his childhood raison d’être
His mother’s voice say’ng “Paddy, manners matter,
Manners get what rudeness doesn’t get ya”

(chorus)

Now it saddens me to have to tell you how
The politest pirate met his Waterloo
A crafty shipping merchant knew that now
’twas time to emulate the wise Sun Tzu

When Paddy spoke so mannerly once more
And let the merchant know what he should do
This crafty captain took the art of war
Saying “Please sir, I insist—after you!”

(a sigh, then, spoken)
“Neatly, men; neatly! A place for every doubloon, and every doubloon in its place.”

(chorus)

— this is part of a song that i wrote called ‘gone’ —

Verse 1
A father and mother should never hear the words
“your son is gone, he’s left the world”
He’s gone out to hide
He won’t be home tonight

Strong Heart

Verse 1
F                                                        Bb
In that summer dress with the tiny flowers
C                                          F
windswept hair by the coastal breeze
In those precious moments spend by the sea
wouldn’t have imagined the strength in me
    Chorus
D                                 C
I’ll be the doorway in your quake
Bb                            F
I’ll be the shelter from the storm
No fear from insecurities
In a fortress for you memories
always there by your side
a monolith for all time
D
like a time capsule lasts
Bb
throughout the ages
C
like the shore stands
F
firm against the sea
like paintings on the wall
most just see the surface
and not whats behind it all
I am a strong heart
A strong heart
A strong heart
A strong heart
Verse 2
Laying back in the field up against a tree
Fresh picked wild flowers sprinkled in my hair
not one thought in my mind and not a care
you might not have guessed a strength this rare
Chorus
Bridge
Fought back tears can’t erase
The smile for you upon my face
Verse 3
Good times behind us; the tough ones ahead
I will take on much more that you would believe
All of my promises about forever to keep
You can count on me to never leave
Chorus

Suite for a New Life

moderately
Am F
if it all fell apart and ended in a ditch

          C G
we'd have no one but ourselves to thank
we set out with nothing to our names
but our clothes and the gas in the tank

nothing we had was making sense anymore
so we set out to find something else
you seemed pretty sure and I didn't wanna scare you
so I kept my doubts to myself

andante (very slowly)
Em Am
as we slipped away
you held my hand so tight I couldn't breathe
Em Am G
drove into a sunrise full of colors I knew didn't exist

faster
C G F G
I thought we'd find a new place of our own
didn't know you were such a rolling stone
shaking off the moss, heading out into the great unknown

we didn't know the world was so wide
once you let go; knots are untied
its beauty's just a mirror of the beauty we all have inside

(rhythm shift to "With the Radio On")

Never Heard

D             G
You say to belt up
A           Bm
You say its a bin lorry
D                  G
someone just nicked my voice
A             Bm
That is all there is to my sad story
I know just what it is I wanted to say
the gen is inside my head
a perfect plan with out compare
for someone to hear is all that is left

[BRIDGE]
I’m trying to be clear
I’m trying to be heard
But why has it all gone pear shaped
where did you go when I need you most
left out on my tod
You must think that I have an empty gob

[CHORUS]
D          G               A
Cause you never hear what I said
Bm
(Just what you want)
D         G                A
Yeah, You never hear what I said
Bm
(Stopped up lug holes)
D                  G
I could scream it for the world
A                 Bm
I could scream it all day
D  G           A
No one hears what I say
Bm
Way to many cloth ears

[VERSE 2]

I am doing porrage in my head
Is no one hearing what I said
I am such a burk
all of these words spoken but unheard
I’m making the trunk call
I’m making the sounds
See my mouth
Move to the words
Like a hand on the hob
You can’t ignore what is in the gob

[BRIDGE]

[CHORUS]

[VERSE 3]
I’m gonna tell you how I feel
I’ve gotta to get through to you
I’m gonna tell you how I feel
I’ve gotta to get through to you
I’m gonna tell you how I feel
I’ve gotta to get through to you
I’m gonna make you believe what I said
I’m gonna make you-
[CHORUS] x2

Canticles

Dear shepherd boy
to you i write.
i am your maiden
your wife for life.
i wont forget you
dont forget me.
i’m waiting for you.
you promised you’d wait for me.

at night i dream
i dream of you.
and every time i awaken,
i find it wasnt true.
i wish to sleep
at least there together we can be.
please if i must wake up,
let it be you that awakens me.

i said no in the kings camp.
i said no when he came back.
he has many wives and many girls,
and still i’m getting pressured by the whole world!
i love only you.
only to you i would say yes.
i’ll wait.

Dear shepherd boy
to you i write.
i am your maiden
your wife for life.
i wont forget you
dont forget me.
i’m waiting for you.
you promised you’d wait for me.

and when i come home,
i think “now i can hope!”
but today they’ve hidden me from you.
they say i’m too young,
our love isnt true.
what about age makes this true either way?
if i’m willing to wait and do this God’s way?
what can’t be true?
about my being in love with you?

I’m waiting.
I’ll wait.
Because you’re my shepherd boy.
and to you i’ve given my heart away.

Everything But You

Verse 1                                                                   key of F
G
Once upon a time he’d read to me
A
Tucked in tight at the end of the day
F
And before I’d close my eyes at night
Bb
He’d kiss my cheek and he’d say;
Chorus
A                                  C
Take my hand lets run through time
F                                    Bb
We’ll go through smiles and into rhymes
Dart by trees like they are standing still
Over steep mountain peaks lit by the moon
Changing everything; everything but you
We’ll chase after the wind and let it all go
Flying over clouds across the wild blue
Changing everything; everything but you
We will change everything but not you

Verse 2
He’s the one that is right for me
Love and kindness all over his face
And using his most charming smile
Dropped to one knee and started to say;

Bridge (after second chorus)
I’ll change everything except for you

Verse 3
Side by side all these years
Through all the sun and the rain
I could not tell you thanks enough
So instead I will just have to say;

Some Ideas – Feel free to use for your songs too

I have been making a list of things I may want to do for songs.  Here are few, but I am not going to start writing them until the 20th.

Ideas

1. Drowned out the silence in my head

2. In time my feeling may change
